Background
Power plant wastewater treatment has long been a cost-intensive challenge for coal-fired facilities. In 2001, a Taiwanese environmental business owner discovered Dongou’s wastewater filtration technology through the early internet. To verify its effectiveness, he traveled to Dongou’s facility in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, bringing a wastewater sample from a local power plant for an on-site filtration test.
Pain Points
Taiwanese power plants faced two major pain points in coal yard wastewater treatment:
High Operational Costs: Reliance on costly imported Swiss filtration systems required continuous chemical dosing with flocculants during pre-treatment, resulting in prohibitively high daily operating costs.
Frequent Maintenance and Downtime: Fabric-based filter sleeves, though cheaper upfront, suffered from a short service life and frequent tearing. Constant replacements not only drove up maintenance expenses but also caused repeated system downtime, disrupting stable and efficient operation.

Solution
Dongou supplied the customer with a PGH Filtration Unit, upgrading their existing production line. The new system not only reduced energy consumption but also significantly improved overall filtration efficiency. At the same time, its stable operation eliminated the need for costly and cumbersome replacement processes, enabling the plant to achieve efficient, economical, and sustainable performance.
Subsequent Impact
The outstanding performance of Dongou’s PGH Filtration System quickly gained industry-wide recognition. Several major Taiwanese power plants even revised their tender specifications for coal yard wastewater purification equipment to align with Dongou’s filtration model. This milestone not only enabled Dongou to establish a strong foothold in Taiwan’s power sector, but also secured a long-standing leading market share in the region’s wastewater filtration industry.
